Richard Gaither

Picture
Richard Gaither worked on both the Oxford and Atlanta campuses of Emory University.  According to Wilbur “Squire” Carlton, he also worked at Miss Emmie’s boarding house as a “waiter, butler, and general factotum par excellence.”  Carlton wrote in his memoir of Mr. Gaither, “No doubt Richard is known by more Emory men than is any other of our colored friends.  Both campuses are familiar grounds to him.”
