Latrelle Oliver
1940 -

Picture
Latrelle Oliver is the daughter of Methodist minister Rev. Ewell Blackburn and wife of former Emory professor, Hoyt Oliver.  She grew up in the north Georgia area and graduated from Wesleyan College before getting her M.A. degree in English from Duke University.   The Olivers have made Oxford their home since 1966 and began working at Oxford College as an English teacher, however, most of her career was with the Newton County School System teaching English in middle school.

Latrelle has always been a driving force in the beautification of Oxford and was instrumental in the founding of the Trees, Parks, and Recreation Board, an organization she still serves.  She has also been an active member in the Oxford Historical Shrine Society since its founding.
