Frank Nolley
1901 - 2002
Frank Nolley was born in Monticello, Georgia, the fifth of thirteen children, to John and Addie Barnes Nolley. He married Gladys Jenkins in 1925 and had two children, Frank Jr. and Nellie. The Nolleys moved to Oxford in 1938 where they lived in a small house on Asbury Street behind Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.
Nolley was a master carpenter and craftsman. He helped construct several of the buildings on the Oxford College campus as well as the Sunday school building at Allen Memorial Church.
He was a deacon at Bethel Grove Baptist Church and chairman of the board from 1973 to 1980. During his tenure, he volunteered his carpentry skills in building the church annex and other improvements.

Known for his vigor, strength, and determination, Nolley was splitting winter firewood into his nineties. He held the record for the oldest citizen as well as the oldest registered voter in Oxford.
Frank Nolley was honored as Citizen of the year in 2001, the year he turned one hundred years old.
